Although a steady rain put a damper on the day at Churchill Downs in Kentucky, the weather was picture perfect in downtown Wayne this past weekend as a stylish sell-out crowd arrived at Paramour at the Wayne Hotel on Saturday afternoon for their 2nd Annual Kentucky Derby Party.
Party guests gathering on the Veranda and in the Lobby Lounge were treated to Mint Juleps and select wines by the glass from the bar. Executive Chef Kyle paid tribute to the infield and served an array of hors d’oeuvres like Potato Croquettes with Caviar and Creme Fraiche, Lobster Bisque Shooters with Benedictine Whipped Cream and Shrimp and Grit Cakes with Remoulade. Pastry Chef Amelia Dietrich satisfied everyone’s sweet tooth with classic Kentucky Derby treats such as Red Velvet Cupcakes and her deathly sweet Derby Bars.
Guests donned their Derby flair and came dressed to impress, but only a select few would take home the title “Best Dressed” for the Derby Contest. Prizes were awarded for first, second and third place men’s and women’s Derby outfits including a $100 Gift Certificate to Jay Michael Salon and a $100 Gift Certificate to Sherman Brothers Shoes.
Stan Hochman, sports columnist for the Philadelphia Daily News and experienced Kentucky Derby reporter, was on hand again to share his extensive knowledge of the Derby with other enthusiasts. Stan came prepared with another entertaining quiz testing participants horse racing acumen.
As post time drew near, anticipation grew as guests gathered around the TV’s in the Lobby Lounge and out on the Veranda to watch the most exciting 2 minutes in sports.
Paramour and the Wayne Senior Center would like to thank all of the party guests who purchased tickets to this charitable event. You helped make it another fun Kentucky Derby Party and a successful fundraiser, raising $6,996 for the Wayne Senior Center.
