Wayne Hotel’s Old Fashioned Christmas 2013 Recap

Wayne Hotel's Old Fashioned Christmas 2013

The early December rains did not dampen the spirits of friends and neighbors that turned out for the Wayne Hotel’s Old Fashioned Christmas Tree Lighting on Friday evening. The center of Wayne was abuzz in anticipation of the countdown to seeing the lights on the majestic tree at the train station. Families snuggled up for carriage rides, the Toy Soldier greeted the kids who came to the Fire house to decorate ornaments, and the VFMAC cadets caroled as the crowd huddled up to the tree. Of course, the tree was ready for the big moment thanks to the Great American Pub, Shreiner Tree Care and Keith Martin Electric. Santa did a magical drive-by on the fire truck moments before the countdown began. As Vernon Odom, 6ABC Action News Reporter, led the countdown, the merriment got livelier, and the crowd cheered as the tree was illuminated.

Drums drumming, horns blaring, flags flying, cheerleaders cheering, lights flashing and sirens bellowing as the parade brought Santa along Lancaster Avenue to the veranda of the Wayne Hotel Saturday morning. Hundreds of boys and girls lined up to visit with Santa. Everyone enjoyed freshly baked cookies and delicious hot chocolate, compliments of Paramour.

Santa was so glad to see the smiling faces of all the good little boys and girls and can’t wait to come back to Wayne on Christmas Eve!
