Wayne Hotel’s Old Fashioned Christmas 2014 Recap

The Christmas spirit was not dampened last Friday night by the drizzling rain as the community of Wayne kicked off the annual Wayne Hotel’s Old Fashioned Christmas weekend celebration presented by the Wayne Business Association

Festivities enjoyed by young and old alike began at 5:30 with ornament decorating, face painting, magic tricks and some lucky kids even dressed up as fire fighters at the Radnor Fire House. Families cuddled up for carriage rides along South Wayne Avenue and carolers took to North Wayne Avenue offering Christmas cheer. As merriment grew, a drive by sighting of Old Saint Nick on a fire truck took center stage just moments before the Tree Lighting Ceremony. The Radnor High School Cheerleaders gave out a spirited cheer while Vernon Odom of Channel 6 Action News along with Justin Weeks, Assistant General Manager of Paramour at the Wayne Hotel, and Diane Jiorle, President of Wayne Business Association, led the countdown. Magnificently, the tree lights appeared in the town of Wayne! All the while the WOGL 98.1 Street Team was in Wayne rocking Holiday Music for all to enjoy.

On Saturday morning, families gathered along Lancaster Avenue for the Santa Parade featuring the Valley Forge Military Academy Drummers, Radnor High School’s Marching Band and Cheerleaders, and high atop a gleaming fire truck was Santa. The Parade ended at the Wayne Hotel, where Santa visited with wide-eyed kids on the Veranda. House-made holiday cookies and hot chocolate were provided by Paramour restaurant and enjoyed by all as they waited to tell Santa what was on their Christmas list.

A special thank you to Great American Pub, Shreiner Tree Care and Keith Martin Electric for keeping the beautiful tree lit throughout the holidays. See you next year, Santa!
