Last weekend, the 4th Ranked Notre Dame Men’s Lacrosse Team stayed at The Radnor Hotel in preparation for the awaited clash with Villanova for the top of the Big East. The Wildcats and the Fighting Irish did not disappoint their fans . The exciting hard fought battle ultimately ended with the Irish on top 10-7 and atop the Big East at 5-0. Villanova looks forward to their return to Wildcat Stadium for the upcoming Big East Tournament May 5th weekend . Don’t miss the fastest game on two feet with two fine combatants.

Despite the cold and rainy morning, our dedicated runners of The Radnor Hotel Team braved the elements and all successfully completed their race at Sunday’s Valley Forge Revolutionary Run. On Sunday night, April 1^st 2012 at The Radnor Hotel, ten anxious girls gathered with hopes of becoming the 2012 Philadelphia Rose of Tralee. After showcasing their personalities in individual interviews with a panel of three judges, followed by a live interview in The Radnor’s Grand Terrace Ballroom in front of over 150 supporters, The Rose was crowned. The room was silent with anticipation as Master of Ceremonies Jim Donovan of CBS announced that Elizabeth Spellman of Havertown will be going on to represent Philadelphia in the Regional Rounds at the end of May in Ireland. When Elizabeth was crowned, the room erupted with applause as she was embraced by her fellow contestants and scores of well-wishers

David Brennan, native of Ireland and General Manager of the Wayne Hotel, was one of the three judges at the Sunday evening event. Brennan was born and raised in Limerick, Ireland and regards the Rose of Tralee as one of the finest events of its kind on the International Stage. The exceptionally high caliber of this year’s participants presented a challenge to Brennan and his fellow judges, but in the end they felt confident in their decision. “The evening was a magnificent celebration of Philadelphia’s Irish heritage and it was an honor to participate on the judging panel.  Selecting the 2012 Philadelphia Rose of Tralee was no easy task, but the judges were unanimous in choosing Elizabeth Spellman.  She truly embodies the spirit of this honor and we feel she would be an excellent ambassador for Philadelphia on the International stage in Tralee in August” says Brennan.

Spellman, 27, was born and raised in Havertown and studied social work at The Catholic University of America. After graduation, she spent two years living in Honduras working at an orphanage for boys. While there, she taught English and became the home’s social worker; setting up trips for the boys to see their families, and providing local families in need with resources. She currently works as a social worker at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. In addition to representing Philadelphia at the festival in Ireland, Elizabeth can look forward to a busy year of appearances and events in and around the greater Philadelphia area as The 2012 Philadelphia Rose of Tralee.

Every bride dreams about the dress, the jewelry, the flowers and the cake – and The Radnor had it all at the Main Line Bridal Event on Saturday, February 25. An amazing show displaying bridal and groom fashion was put on by Van Cleve Wedding Pavilion and Sagets Formal Wear. The models were adorned with stunning jewelry by Bernie Robbins Jewelers and carried beautiful bouquets by Kati Mac, Petal Pushers and Matlack Florists. One lucky bride took home the grand prize: a romantic three night honeymoon at the all-inclusive Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana, Dominican Republic courtesy of Kitty Ward Travel. Brides also got to sample delicious cakes from Cakes and Candies by Maryellen, The Masters Baker and Bredenbeck’s Bakery. Jay Michael Salon and Spa‘s booth featured a prize wheel that brides could spin for a chance to win a haircut, spa products and more. The next Main Line Bridal Event will be on September 15, 2012!

A spectacular time was had by all at the Wedding Open House at The Radnor Hotel on Thursday, February 2^nd, 2012. Newly engaged couples got to experience The Radnor in its entire wedding splendor. Guests sampled delicious hors d’oeuvres and enjoyed a magnificent dessert display featuring a cascading chocolate fountain.

“I just wanted to take the time to extend to you my deepest gratitude to all of the staff at The Radnor Hotel who had a hand in making my Friday, July 8, 2011 wedding the perfect experience. From the front desk staff who greeted our guests, to the day of attendants, to the banquet manager, our guests had a wonderful time at our wedding and we have heard from many, many people that it was the “best wedding” that they “ever attended”. The bridesmaids and groomsmen really enjoyed the presentation of the bridal suite and the wait staff who constantly checked on them to make sure that we had enough of everything! My neighbors and family will not stop talking about how wonderful the wait staff was. Our wedding was perfect- every detail. Even though everyone thinks they had the perfect wedding, I really believe mine was something out of a fairytale. The room never looked as beautiful as it did the night of my wedding. I have talked to several people who attended the wedding, and our breakfast the next day, and I have heard nothing but the best compliments about both. The Radnor Hotel really took the time to make my wedding special. I will always talk about The Radnor Hotel using the highest compliments, and will tell all of my friends in the future to look at The Radnor Hotel to hold a wedding reception. I thank everyone involved for making my wedding what other people call “the best wedding” and for what we call “the perfect wedding”.
