Wayne Hotel’s Old Fashioned Christmas celebration kicked off the 2012 Holiday season with a chilly but cheery two-day event last weekend, presented by the Wayne Business Association. Friday evening started the festivities with horse-drawn carriage rides, face painting, ornament decorating and carolers in Wayne. By 7:30pm, North Wayne Avenue was packed with neighbors who gathered for the lighting of the Christmas tree. Vernon Odom of Channel 6 Action News led the countdown this year. Saturday morning’s Santa parade route was lined with hundreds of cheerful merry-makers, as the parade marched down to the Wayne Hotel. The parade featured Radnor High School’s marching band and cheerleaders, old fashioned cars, fire trucks and of course the guest of honor: Santa Claus. At the end of the parade, Santa took his spot on the Veranda and visited with children, while guests warmed up with hot chocolate and cookies courtesy of Paramour.
