Main Line Antiques Show 2013 Recap

The Main Line Antiques Show kicked off its eighth year with an Opening Night Party on Friday, November 15th, 2013 at Radnor Valley Country Club. As Presenting Sponsor, The Radnor Hotel was proud to be a part of this benefit for Surrey Services for Seniors. Over 400 attendees enjoyed beverages, hor d’oeuvres, and live piano music while being the first to view an extraordinary collection of antiques on display by over 30 distinguished dealers.

The Main Line Antiques Show opened to the general public on Saturday, November 16th and continued through Sunday, November 17th, 2013, offering attendees a spectacular selection of antiques ranging from garden elements to silver and folk art to furniture. A New Collectors “Meet the Experts” special event took place on Saturday that featured a fun scavenger hunt, a private tour of the Show, and wine & cheese for guests. On Sunday, Dr. Harold Sweetman, Executive Director of Jenkins Arboretum, spoke about antique garden tools in the setting of an Afternoon Tea. In addition, the Show hosted a two-day lecture series, Gardens Past and Present, that featured an impressive line-up of speakers and interesting subjects:

  • Drew Becher, President of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society: “ARTiculture”
  • Alasdair Nichol, Freeman’s Vice Chairman and Antiques Roadshow celebrity: “Tales from the Auction Floor”
  • Ron Fiamma, Vice President of AIG: “Private Art Collection Disasters: True Stories from the Front Lines”
  • Jeff Groff, Director of Public Programs at Winterthur: “Lost Gardens of the Main Line”

Overall, it was another successful Main Line Antiques Show benefit for Surrey Services for Seniors and we can’t wait to see what The Main Line Antiques Show has in store for us next year!
