“When we got engaged, we immediately thought about the weddings we’d attended of our friends: what did we like best? There was no contest for us; with both our families and quite a few friends coming from out-of-state, a venue with “one-stop-shopping” was an absolute MUST. (In fact, my now-husband’s father couldn’t stop talking about how pleased he was that we didn’t have to worry about transporting guests from one place to another.) The other big selling point for me was the beautiful gardens on the hotel property–granted on our day it was very hot, but I wanted that garden! The ballroom would’ve been fine if it was raining, too. Our planner at the Radnor Hotel (another big plus!) was Abbey, who always answered my constant emails and questions about everything. 3 days before, we had a big sit-down with Abbey and a couple of other banquet managers to go through every single detail: decorations, times of arrival for everyone, vendor names, how many attendees, meals, ages of children for children’s meals, etc. We left feeling relieved and ready for the big day! Since we’re both big worrywarts, I can’t imagine not having a planner of some sort–we didn’t have to worry about a thing that day: they rounded us up for the ceremony, gave us our orders for introduction, made sure the vendors were all on the same page, etc. If you expect lots of out-of-towners (as in, more out-of-towners than local folks), you can’t go wrong with doing everything at a hotel. And in the Philly suburbs, you ABSOLUTELY can’t go wrong with The Radnor Hotel.”
